Despite its central location the Royal Mansour feels incredibly private and serene, a world away from the hustle and bustle of the medina, which is only a short walk away.

Within close reach of the Koutoubia Mosque, it's a 20-minute walk to Yves Saint Laurent's Jardin Majorelle.

By plane: London or Manchester to Marrakech takes around 3 hours 45 minutes, after which, it's a 10-minute drive to the hotel. Free on-site parking available. Book flights to Marrakech.

This is a stunning showcase of luxury and every detail has been created by traditional Moroccan craftsmanship - from rich colours, mosaics and tapestries to opulent marble, engraved mirrors and chandeliers.

The service was flawless but as you'd expect from a King's hotel, staff remain largely unseen, and appear at the service doors of your riad in a discreet fashion. There's also a butler, who will be happy to coordinate dinner reservations and arrange tours to the medina.
