THE LOCATION

Stay in the Georgian area of the south city, close to the city centre. The surrounding area is mostly offices, but you'll find plenty of cafés, restaurants, pubs and clubs nearby.

It's around 15 minutes' walk to Grafton Street and 20 minutes' walk to Trinity College.

By plane: Manchester, Birmingham or London to Dublin takes around an hour, after which, it's a 30-minute drive to the hotel. Paid parking available on-site (limited) and nearby. Book flights to Dublin.

CHARACTER & STYLE

With its split personality, the hotel is made up of a Georgian townhouse - in quirky style with a jazz theme - and a modernist mews, which can be found across the courtyard. If you stay in the Georgian house, you can expect original features like high ceilings, decorative fireplaces and sash windows.

THE FACILITIES

There's limited on-site parking, but plenty of parking available nearby (albeit expensive). While there's no restaurant, there's an honesty bar in the mews. Service is friendly.

Rooms

Stay in the main house for a compact yet characterful room with Georgian features (high ceilings, decorative fireplace) and a jazz theme. Each room is individually-decorated. The house is old and you'll find creaky floorboards, but that adds to the charm.

Room types: Intimate, Plush, Fabulous, And All That Jazz, Sam's Room

Key amenities: ensuite bathroom with toiletries, hairdryer, tea and coffee facilities, bottled water, TV, free Wi-Fi

Food & Drink

The hotel only serves breakfast - but it was great. We started off with fruit and yoghurt (served without being ordered), followed by homemade cranberry bread, and there's plenty of choice of hot dishes - we recommend the eggs Florentine with smoked salmon.

Breakfast: served in the conservatory or informal dining room, communal tables. Options include homemade granola, freshly baked breads, poached pears, eggs benedict, mushroom frittata and omelettes. Served daily, 7:30-10am.
