A large, zanily-designed riverfront hotel with a rock music theme in the east of the city, nhow Berlin embraces the neighbourhood music scene and includes a recording studio, stage, gallery and event spaces. THE LOCATION
You're on the east bank of the River Spree where Stralauer Allee and Naglerstrasse meet, in the revitalised docklands area. Castellated Oberbraumbrücke bridges the river; head to East Side Gallery to view a poignant remnant of the Berlin Wall.
Warschauer Strasse U-Bahn and S-Bahn stations are a ten minute walk away; there's is a direct connection from the S-Bahn to Brandenburg Airport.
By plane: direct flights to Berlin Brandenburg from London (1 hour 40 minutes), Manchester (1 hour 55 minutes) and Edinburgh (2 hours 5 minutes). It's a 40-minute drive to the hotel. Parking costs €18 per day. Book flights to Berlin.
CHARACTER & STYLE
This is a striking nine-storey building with an eye-catching mirrored overhang. The wild Pop Art interiors are by Karim Rashid; reception is a quirky purple and white pod while copious black and white photos of rock stars reveal a strong music biz theme.

Rooms
Some rooms face a six-lane highway, which is fine if you're only staying a night or two. Some noise from guests partying and playing guitar can reach the boldly coloured rooms. Bathrooms have a rainshower, black tiles and La Bottega toiletries from Italy.

The drinks menu is lengthy - there's a choice of over 20 cocktails - while the food menu is somewhat shorter, although it includes classics like currywurst as well as plant-based options. The large restaurant is better at weekends when it's busy and there's a lively ambience.
