The hotel is set into the mountainside above the pretty town of Gargnano, on the western side of Lake Garda, with oleander trees and bougainvillea tumbling to the shore.

Immersed in 27 acres of leafy parkland, it feels a world away from the busy lakefront - and the views are simply divine.

By plane: London to Verona takes just over 2 hours, after which, it's a 1 hour and 30-minute drive to the hotel. Free on-site parking available. Book flights to Verona.

The resort blends in with the natural landscapes and had been constructed using natural materials, making it eco-sustainable. The décor is simple and uncluttered, and thanks to its location the atmosphere is supremely tranquil.

There's a small lounge and boutique selling products by the resort's natural cosmetics line. However, this is one of Italy's best spa hotels, with outstanding facilities to match - a therapeutic garden with five wellness trails and a running circuit can also be found in the surrounding leafy parkland.
