In a prime position on the north Cornish coast, there's plenty to do in the area, with world-class surfing on the doorstep and an array of independent eateries, pubs, bars, boutiques and cafés in the town centre. On the far side of the beach and just a short stroll from the hotel is a small complex of eateries, including Rick Stein Fistral, The Stable, The Fish House and Ann's Cottage.

Just a 20-minute walk will take you into the town centre of Newquay.

By car: it's 5 hours from London, 3 hours from Bristol and 90 minutes from Exeter. There is paid private parking available.

By train: London Paddington to Newquay (via Par) takes around 5 hours. The station is 10 minutes from the hotel in a taxi. Book trains to Newquay.

Emulating the coastal surrounds, a palette of soft blue, grey and white hues complements interiors made from locally sourced timber - creating a contemporary-coastal style. In the beachside restaurant, the ocean views provide the ultimate setting for a Cornish escape.

Hotel guests have complimentary access to the rejuvenating spa and gym facilities, home to a vitality pool, steam room, sauna, hot tub and nine treatment rooms including a couple's room. There is also a fitness suite with classes ranging from yoga to boxercise and beach fit. If you fancy catching a wave, the Quiksilver Surf School is affiliated with Fistral Beach, based at a sister hotel, The Esplanade. If watching people surf is more your thing, head to the outside decked area at Dune restaurant, lounge and Bay bar, which offers the ideal space to relax over a sundowner.
