By train: London Paddington to Bath Spa takes 1 hour 20 mins. The pub is a 15-minute taxi ride from the station. Book trains to Bath Spa.
CHARACTER & STYLE
The interiors at this chic pub boast atmospheric dark colours, while the bedrooms have a contemporary-cottage ambience. Leaving muddy boots at the door and cosying up by the fire is not only acceptable but actively encouraged.
The inn is staffed by an incredibly friendly team and has been expertly managed by the same family for over a decade. All necessary amenities are provided in the rooms, but from breakfast onward, there is always someone available for assistance and there's plenty of parking available.

Take your pick from three rooms in a converted stone shed and one in a weatherboard 'Wendy House' - all feature decorative touches like cowhide rugs and pastel-coloured wood panelling. The Wendy House overlooks a grassy area for dogs and the Shed rooms have garden chairs outside. Modern bathrooms offer roomy walk-in showers.

The menu here seamlessly combines Modern British cooking with gastropub classics, with a focus on seasonality and skillful execution, served up in a pleasant atmosphere. A standout favourite is the beautifully presented loin of pan-roasted venison with sweet potato gratin, haggis croquettes and blackberry jus.
