Join esteemed World War II historian, James Holland on this eight-day tour, as you uncover one of the most pivotal moments: The Battle for Sicily. Follow in the footsteps of the Allied Forces, who struggled to gain control of Sicily and witness historical sights including the invasion beaches on the island's south coast, the Plain of Catania and hill-top towns of Assoro, Centuripe and Troina. Sicily is rich in history and you'll have the opportunity to visit Ragusa, with its baroque architecture, as well as the Medieval streets of Taormina, and the Roman Amphitheatre and Greek ruins at Siracusa. You'll also receive a complimentary copy of James' book, Sicily '43 and there will be plenty of time to ask him questions about the campaign.

Colditz and Stalag Luft III with Guy Walters

Join expert historian, Guy Walters on this five-day tour to some of World War II's most iconic locations including Colditz and Stalag Luft III. You'll visit the prisoner-of-war camp, made famous by the 1963 film The Great Escape and Guy will tell its true story, while showing you around the camp, as well as the routes taken by the escapees. Continue along those routes as you cross the border into Germany, visiting Chemnitz, before a day at Colditz Castle - which was converted into a high security prison during the war. There will also be time to visit the German city of Dresden, home to the Museum of Military History and the Frauenkirche - a Lutheran church, reconstructed in 1994 after the firebombing of Dresden towards the end of the war.

Malta’s Second World War history with James Holland

However, it became one of the most bombed locations and you'll visit key sites, while listening to mesmerising stories from expert guides. Capital Valletta will act as your base, and you'll get to experience its sights on a walking tour, visiting the Lascaris War Rooms, a network of secret underground tunnels and chambers. Your trip will begin in the German capital, where you'll visit sites such as the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, Brandenburg Gate, Hitler's bunker and the Reichstag - the historic home of the National Parliament until 1933, which has been reimagined. In neighbouring Poland, learn about the Nazis' strategic campaigns and see the harrowing remains of prisons and concentration camps, as well as several museums, including Walcz Open Air Museum.
